Generality
Krachaidum is a kind of galingale. Krachaidum's shape of head (bulb) , scent , and taste is not similar to yellow galingale. Scent of Krachaidum is stronger than yellow galingale. Therefore we prefer using Krachaidum for herb than cooking. "Krachaidum" is a kind of herb. It sorted in phylum ZINGIBERACEAE
We sort galingale to 3 kinds
1. Yellow or white galingale
2. Red galingale
3. Black galingale or "Krachaidum"
Yellow and red galingale is used for cooking but black galingale(Krachaidam) is prefered using for herb. when we cut its head(root) we can see the color of inner head in deep purple to black. The scent is similar to yellow galingale but stronger. Leaf and stem of Krachaidum is as same as other galingale but at the edge of leaf sometimes appear purple.
In former time, hill tribe called "Mong" brought Krachaidum and grew in Ampher Dan-sai and Ampher Na-Haew in Loei province of Thailand.They use Krachaidum for medicinal herb at their home. Later, there was grew in many area neighbourhood.
